and my mouth hates me. The last few years of my life have been DENTAL HELL. right now, I've got a broken tooth cutting into my tongue. It's making me talk funny, and it hurts like a sonofabitch. I have a dentist appointment on Monday, but damn. I can't afford this crap!!
Oh, by the way, I am 27 now...and yes, I'm wiser and MUCH more mature.
I can't believe it, and I'm sure you won't either, but this is the latest I've been up in about a week and a half!! I've been going to bed between 9 and 10:30 everynight and waking up at 6:30am. I'm trying to keep it that way, but I was catching up on some shows and some knitting, so I thought what the hell.
Last night we were going to get Mexican and go see Rambo, but Kevin made us go get Indian instead, and also refused to see Rambo! I got this Tandoori platter that was kinda good. But I have to be perfectly honest and say that Indian food really isn't one of my favorites. I enjoy trying new things, but I'm not a spicy food eater, really.
This week I've got a few doctor appointments. First I have to have a long awaited root canal, and I'm so relieved. It was actually scheduled for a couple Friday's ago, but I got lost somehow, on my way there (even though I've been to the specialist before!) So I had to reschedule (and they were mad at me for some reason, so I feel weird going there now) the appointment for Tuesday.
Wednesday I have to go back to Livingston/West Orange (whatever, it's by Short Hills, that's all I know) and get a pelvic ultrasound to make sure everything's going ok with my innards.
I'm also hoping to schedule another root canal by the end of the week because one of my teeth is really bothering me and I'd like to take care of it before I get too involved with the fertility meds (which, hopefully I will be starting in the middle of next week, if the first course of meds works correctly!) I'm pretty excited, but also kinda "bleh" about it because I already got nauseous and barfed in my car on Friday outside of the grocery store.
In other exciting news, we'll be seeing Pat on Friday! !! !! He's coming to NJ for the weekend, and Jon took the day off so we can pick him up from the airport and have lunch and hang out! I'm psyched! My life is so much more boring without our Friday lunch dates :( Taco Bell (I know) and Red Robin are not the same without him being there doing embarrassing things.
I'm gonna go to bed now. Maybe I'll be back tomorrow with some KNITTING PHOTOS! I know you're excited about that.
Jon's playing a video game where his mission is to return ho's to a brothel. There's something about this that doesn't sit right with me. He's wearing a hat that I knit him last week. It's cute, and it matches his coat and he requested it so we're both happy. that's good.
Last night was a horrible night. I am pretty sure that I have an infection in my jaw/teeth. I was in such pain it was unreal. Thankfully I have tons of medication and an appointment with a specialist on Dec. 9th.
I've been kind of DOWN lately. How could I not be? I'm in this constant pain, I've got no time, and a complete lack of focus. It's Dec 2nd, and I have no ideas about Christmas or anything else right now. I need to start making lists, so that I am not stressing myself and my family out.
Our friend Joe is over right now, and he's talking about this paper he's writing ... it makes me miss college and papers and stuff. :( I should go back!
So it didn't go very well at the dentist. I got 5 shots of whatevercaine and my cheek got numb but my teeth didn't. So then the dentist said to go see a specialist because it just wasn't gonna happen for me.
Now I'm at home and the pain is starting because I'm not numb anymore.
I have plans to go see Borat tonight but ow. I don't know if it's a good idea.
I finally had enough of tossing and turning all night so I'm up. Vicodinafied. Toothaches are the worst. WORSE THAN CHILDBIRTH. i mean, if they last for weeks like mine have. There's no cute baby at the end...
I'm looking through some of my flickr favorites, like Trip Print Press, mav, evanichole and compiling a folder of fresh ideas and inspiration. I do that alot. Jon is kinda pushing me to make a list of things I need to get my letterpress going, because I've been sort of whining that I don't use it and that I'm sad to see it just sit there and because he's being a very cute and supportive husband.
I don't need much for my press,but I am just so scared of being mediocre at EVERYTHING that I don't want to try anything. I guess I should have considered this before I went crazy tracking down a press. But I want to do it and I have ideas. I'm just afraid.
I am tired of being mediocre at everything. I want to be good at something.
I spent an hour and half today getting 'numbed' at the dentist, without success. It's not much fun to get like, 7 or 8 shots into your gums and cheeks for NO REASON. I left with a toothache and a giant swelled up jaw/cheek. Fun fun fun.
Other than that, I've been really busy and missing my little Devan.
Today I got my first ever ROOT CANAL. UGH. Shot to the roof of the mouth- don't believe the hype, it's no fun. Other than that I was just a bit squeamish about the whole situation, but there was no pain to speak of. I have to go back next week for another shot of novacaine in the roof of my mouth (joy!) to start the crown. :(
Tomorrow is little Devan's last day of preschool. It went by soooo fast. I'm kind of sad, but also relieved. One less direction I'll be pulled in every day. I wanted to give the teacher and her helpers a nice card. So armed with my inspiration : A lovely asian fabric from reprodepot.com, I drew a couple illustrations in adobe illustrator and used one for the card and one for the front of the envelope, printed em, burned masters, and gocco'd til the cows came home.
I don't usually pat myself on the back, or even like most of the work I do, but I seriously love both designs sooo much. While I was drawing them, I really liked them in just black and white, and the negative space made such an impact, but I only had these 3.5x5" cards in a creamy beige color and I wasn't feeling black with that. So I went with two colors I'm really into right now - a dusty kind of robin's egg blue (doesn't translate well with my family room lighting, and a dusty coral/orangy/pinkish color (which also doesn't translate well). I'm really feeling the simplicity of the design on the envelope. I'd like to use it again for something else. I only needed 1 card for the preschool thing, but I couldn't justify wasting precious gocco supplies on just 1 card, so I made a bunch. I'm not sure if I'll keep them for myself or gift them or what I'll do. For now I'll just look at them and smile.
